To sign can, hold both fists up then move them forward, at the same time nodding your head and giving your toddler a look of encouragement. It is as if your hands are propelling them forward in whatever task they are trying to achieve.

SIGN USAGE

Teach your baby or toddler the can sign in the context of teaching them a new motor or verbal skill, especially if they express uncertainty, frustration, or discouragement at their present inability.
