Whisper

Whisper is a natural sign. Take your dominant hand, hold it out flat and open with fingers touching each other, then touch the back of your fingers to the cheek opposite your dominant side, palm facing outward. Slightly lean in to your toddler - as if you are really about to whisper a secret!

SIGN USAGE

Teach your toddler the whisper sign in real-life situations that call for some secrecy, to save your baby from potential embarrassment (like needing to use the potty or toilet...urgently)! So this is a fail-safe sign, because your toddler can sign potty, pee, or poop to you - or whisper the actual words to you when they can already speak. Whisper is also a good reminder to give your toddler so they know they have to be quiet, like in the public library, or at a church service.

Flash Card

Use the whisper flash card when you are introducing your baby to voice management. This sign is particularly useful for daycare, church, and group settings. We use the sign for whisper to replace the concept of “inside voice”.
