Our experience with BSL has been on of the best journeys we have taken with our son. We ordered the Premium Kit and mainly used the DVDs, dictionary (for signs not covered in DVD) and poster. Our son is at a point where he is making simple signing sentences. He absolutely loves watching the DVDs and sings a-long to the intro song. Since 15 months old, we have noticed that his ability to pick up and correctly use the signs has been amazing. We started signing with him with the kit prior to buy the kit around 3 months old (via YouTube) but only bought the kit when he was 4 months old! I would highly recommend getting the kit but that only is not sufficient-consistent use through the day is really what progresses you swiftly! Having a biracial child, I especially love the fact that the DVDs are racially inclusive. Thank you BSL Team!

  2. Janet Smith (verified owner)

LOVE IT! I highly recommend the premium kit. The wall chart is huge and durable. We hung it on our bedroom door as a quick reference guide. The dictionary is great reference when we want to quickly pick out a few new signs to focus on. It’s clear and simple. The flash cards are very sturdy. My daughter plays with them often and we use them to practice signs and also our language skills. The videos are catchy and engaging. My now 20 month old(who was 3 months premature) will even watch it with me as we practice. Baby Signing Time has been wonderful! My daughter knows several signs now and it’s so nice to be able to have her communicate with me. We rarely have temper tantrums(and usually the only time she does have one is when she is signing to go outside and we don’t). Everyone in our house plus grandma and grandpa are signing!

  3. Judy Morrissey (verified owner)

Wish I would have had this product with all of my six grandchildren. it is wonderful the way you can start babies out so young signing, and actually be able to communicate with a six month old or younger. I think signing is such a great language to start teaching little ones.

  4. Cameron (verified owner)

This kit has been a lifesaver for my family! My daughter loves to watch “Babies” and always signs the intro song as if she’s singing it with Rachel. Being able to communicate with her has saved my little girl from having countless meltdowns. Super excited for our newborn to start learning and be able to respond to the signs his big sister is already doing for him! We plan to continue with ASL as a family.

  5. Jenni

I had ordered two of these kits in order to try to help my autistic grandson communicate with us. I kept one for myself, and gave one to his mother. I found the kit to be very well-made, very useful, and I believe it could have helped with the communication problems that my grandson was having. Unfortunately, his mother did not want to try teaching her son sign language, so I never got to fully use the product. I still have it though, and may one day be able to use it. Fortunately, as he has gotten older and is seeing a speech therapist, his communication is getting better. I still wish she would have tried sign language when he was younger. Not being able to communicate is very stressful, both on him and his friends and family. I would encourage anyone with a child who cannot speak to start sign language early.

  6. Mary Ann (verified owner)

It has been such a wonderful and educational way for my son and I to bond. I discovered this program when my son is four months old and he is now two years old. In that time span he has learned so many vocabulary words and he easily remembers them. I believe that the program has helped him speak much sooner than expected as well. He loves the songs and know all the words to them. We also enjoy reading the books using the App. He loves all his flash cards and it’s such a great way to keep his mind sharp and curiosity satisfied. I have told all my new mom friends about your products and highly recommend it.

  7. Luna (verified owner)

My daughter is now 16 months and its amazing how many words she can sign. We are in love with these products. These product it helped everyone at home, Daddy was able to sign with a customer at work, and grandma recognizes the signs. i strongly recommend these products and I’m looking forward to purchase some more DVD’s.

  8. Christina Pennington (verified owner)

I loved the videos, my little one was engrossed in the songs and soon he was able to tell me exactly what he wanted. I did a big dance when he signed milk and doggie! Now he’s two, even though he can somewhat talk we still communicate with BSL when we have a hard time understanding his speech. :)

  9. Victoria Locurcio (verified owner)

I can’t praise baby sign language enough. It changed our lives! My daughter Fiona, started at about 8 months and by the time she was a year, she had learned all of the words on the videos and in the flashcards, as well as signs we looked up on the website. Fiona was leaps ahead of her peers, talking in sentences by 18 months, and now at 2 years old she TEACHES our extended family members signs. She is starting to learn the alphabet and because she has the concept of ASL she can relate the letters with the signs. BSL has truly been wonderful for us, as we have learned right along with her. Thank you for the gift of communication with our daughter. We are very excited to start with our second daughter Claire, who is now 8 months and are ecstatic that Fiona can teach her!

  10. Te Cao (verified owner)

Both my daughter and son love it! My daughter is four year old and my son is one and half! One day, my son pointed apples on the table and said “apple” and then did the apple sign. He learned a lot from baby sign language and enjoy it a lot! My daughter learned baby sign language and signing time and she loves it. I commended this product to my friends and relatives!

  11. Jennifer Teusch (verified owner)

This is a fabulous product for keeping little minds busy and facilitating early communication with our children and (in my case) grandchildren.

  12. Ashley (verified owner)

We started using the flash cards at 17 months and my son loves them. At 2.5, he still likes to get them out and go through them to find his favorites. We keep the poster in our pantry for our regular sitter. I like the dictionary when paired with the website to see the matching video. Overall, this is a great kit, but we definitely see a lot of benefit from using Baby Signing Time videos as well.

  13. Pattie Bontke (verified owner)

We gave this as a gift, but we have seen how well it works. She is 16 months old now and has been using Baby Sign for a number of months. There is a 15 month old at our church who uses Baby Sign also. He can communicate his needs/wants to his mother, grandmother and grandfather while he sits with them during Bible Class and church. We plan to give Baby Sign to another young couple we know.

  14. Bonilynn Forconi (verified owner)

I purchased the Baby Signing Time starter kit for our granddaughter. She loves it and it’s so easy for even us adults to learn at the same time. This set has help avert many frustrating interactions since it has opened up a whole new avenue of communication! She started watching and learning signs at about 15 months old. She quickly went through the cd’s and at 2 yrs old, knows her number to 20, the alphabet, how to spell her name, and very large verbal and sign vocabulary. We totally recommend this product!

  15. Jason Wagner (verified owner)

It is very amazing to see how much my children can communicate with people when they are only little baby! Thank you Baby Sign Language!!! We cannot live with your wonderful program!

  16. J DeGrood (verified owner)

We have absolutely loved our Baby Sign Language kit. We bought the kit when our daughter was four months old and still use it to this day (she is three, now). We review the flash cards and even return to the site regularly to learn new signs. I personally think that every parent should teach their child sign language.

  17. JoAnna Harper

HUGE hit with our child! She has watched these since about 5 months old, and has consistently requested to watch these for the past 18 months! She has learned quite a bit of sign language and has even enjoyed the Treeschooler series, as well. You can’t go wrong with educational videos that they absolutely love and songs that will not drive you crazy, even when they stick with you in your sleep.

  18. Sheryl Kukla (verified owner)

I love this kit. My daughter loves her baby signing time dvd. Shes 15 months now but was introduced to her dvd around 7 months old and was totally engaged in it. The dvds also make it easy for parents to learn.

  19. Rhonda Bourgeois

I purchased the baby sign language kit with poster, flash cards, instructions and dictionary. I found the poster was very useful for family to use, and I used the dictionary a lot. My son was signing many signs by 8 months. I have never used the flash cards. I am now beginning to teach sign language to my 4 month old daughter. My sons vocabulary is great and I found using the BSL really helped him express himself until he could use words. The poster is made well and held up well to toddler abuse! I would highly recommend this kit.

Teaching our son sign language yielded wonderful results for us. Some other parents were skeptical and I think wondered, “why teach a (non-deaf) child sign language if they’ll start speaking eventually anyways?” Well our son is now 2.5 years old and I can say that it was extremely beneficial. First, it enabled us to have conversations far earlier than if we waited for him to speak. This means that he didn’t have to grunt and moan to tell us what he wanted..he could just sign it. Also we could talk about things happening…for instance if we were at the store and heard some crying he would make signs to express, “I hear a baby crying”. Later, when he did start to speak sometimes we wouldn’t know what he was trying to say and so he would make the sign at the same time to help us understand…so cool. :) Also learning sign language helped him to develop his fine motor skills and hone his attention to detail.

One of the biggest benefits to teaching our son sign language is that it helped in learn early that there are “symbols which represent things”. This principle helped him to learn his ABCs around his first birthday. Using tips that we learned from the Institutes for the Achievement of Human Potential (iahp.org) he also learned how to read several hundred words before the age of two. At two and a half we’ve already moved on to more advanced topics like learning the human body (esophagus, stomach, pancreas, etc). My point is that teaching him sign language early helped to jump start his mind and imagination. And most importantly we’ve been having fun the whole time!

It’s been said that “the brain grows with use” and there is hardly a more effective and fun way to engage your baby’s brain then to teach him/her sign language.

This was a best buy for sure! We started signing when my daughter was 10 months, she loved the music and dance the most. I believe Rachel’s voice was very calming for her. My daughter is 2 1/2 years now and we are still signing! She even tries to make up her own signs when she discovers something new, and she speaks so well and knows so much! This has definitely enriched our lives, thank you Baby Signing Time!! 😁

  22. Sawnya Andersen (verified owner)

These videos have been a huge help in communication with my youngest child who happens to have Down syndrome. She’s picked up on the signs fairly quickly and I love that she can express herself and that I know what she wants. She is starting to make the sounds of some words too. I love these and would highly recommend them!

  23. Kimberly McCosh (verified owner)

We are very pleased with Baby Sign Language! Our 16 month old daughter loves watching the DVDs and listening to the music and so do I! We are both learning a new language! We have had great success teaching our daughter signs and it is wonderful to be able to know what she is wanting because she can sign and let us know!

  24. Kristy Bugo (verified owner)

I cannot possibly recommend these products more highly! We LOVE them! After purchasing the Baby Signing Time collection, we then graduated to owning the entire Signing Time Collection, Potty Time, Christmas, all the Treeschoolers, and now Signing Time Sentences! We just can’t get enough! Our toddler just turned two and at this point, is practically bilingual with English and ASL.

By the time he was a year old, he had mastered well over a hundred signs and had an equal number of spoken words in his vocabulary. He can say and sign and “read” all written letters and numbers 1-20. He can identify dozens of colours, animals, objects, people, and speaks in complex sentences. Meanwhile, his same-aged peers have only a handful of spoken words and get by with grunting and pointing and frustrated gibberish.

People cannot get over how advanced his is in his vocabulary and communication skills, and while I’m sure he must have some natural ability, I fully credit Two Little Hands for his success.

I fully intend to someday certify as a Signing Time Academy instructor and continue building on the thousands of signs we have learned together and spread that love to others. As an educator who works with children and adults regularly, the benefits of incorporating sign into daily life seem to be self evident and I will always strongly advocate for using it. Even if it was only to learn a second language to be able to communicate with the deaf community, it would still be 100% worth it, but it is so, SO much more valuable than even that!

THANK YOU, and keep up the good work.

  25. Megan Gunn (verified owner)

We absolutely love our kit!! We have learned so much from the dvds and I find the dictionary very easy and useful to reference. The learning guide was a great help at learning how to begin to teach ASL. My son loves pointing to the poster that also come with out kit. We haven’t use the flash cards yet, as I feel he’s to young, but I know we will enjoy them as well! My son, who is now 13 months old, loves the songs on the videos and mimics the signs while dancing.

  26. Julia (verified owner)

Bilingual user from Hong Kong! I love the premium kit. My son was able to sign over 20 practical signs before 20 months old with the help of the cards and the DVDs. We also love all the songs. He even asks me to sing ” baby signing time ” as a lullaby to him every night. Even though he is 2yrs8m old now, he still takes out the flash cards and ask us to play with him. Great purchase!

  27. Kristy Bugo (verified owner)

We cannot say enough good things about Baby Signing Time (BST)! We purchased the DVDs (and flashcards/poster) before our son was born and were excited to introduce him to a hands-on second language and get the communication rolling early! Little did we know how much he would LOVE the DVDs. When he is sick or upset, nothing consoles him more quickly than BST. I’m pretty sure his first word was “baby!” – from the theme song, “Baby, baby, Baby Signing Time.”

He has recognized the signs for several months now, but has only recently been really signing himself, and seems to add more signs almost every day. He seems to have an unusually large verbal vocabulary for a baby under 1 year old, and most of the words he uses are ones he has been exposed to in BST. He lights up with the biggest smile and watches attentively from the moment he hears the giggle as the Two Little Hands logo comes on. He has no interest in any other television whatsoever. We don’t really allow him to watch movies/television, but if a TV happens to be on while he’s in the room, he completely ignores it, unless it’s Rachel and the Signing Time Babies.

BST has saved the day on long road-trips, too. My busy little boy does not like to be restrained and sitting for long periods of time – or even short ones, really! – but if BST is on, he smiles in his car seat and just watches contentedly and tries to sign along and speak the words; no meltdowns. Now when he gets in the car seat, he points at the iPad holder in front of him and says, “Baby! Baby!”

We also introduced the videos to friends of ours with a child a year older than our son, and it completely changed his world. He went from completely non-verbal grunting and tantrums to full-out signing and speaking almost overnight. It’s like communication finally clicked for him!

Having the digital copies has been a life-saver, too. Now we have it on our phones and tablets to stream to the television, so if we’re ever stuck at the doctor’s office or out and about and he’s getting fussy, it’s like a miracle in my pocket. :)

It’s not just babies who enjoy them, either. Whenever older kids or adults are over to play with him or babysit, they get such a kick out of learning the signs and seeing him communicate with them.

I strongly recommend them to any and everyone!

  28. Gretchen

Terrific product! I started using the Baby Sign Language kit with my son when he was about four months old. It took some practice and consistency, but he caught on and began using a few of the most basic signs (milk was, of course, the first one he learned). From there it snowballed and he learned many new signs.

He just turned two last month and still uses many of the signs, recognizes and repeatedly tells me what each of the signs from the poster are regularly, as we keep in on a wall he often sees. He also loves using the flashcards and took to them quickly. I think he enjoyed the pictures. I actually had to take the flashcards away from him because he was playing with them too much (and got a bit rough with them)! Now we only play with them together.

This system was easy to use and I feel it is the reason that my son not only speaks very well at two years old, but also has a very broad and extensive spoken vocabulary. My daughter, who is now 10 months old, has finally just begun to really catch on to many of the signs. I am hoping to have similar results with her communication skills.

Thank you so much for this wonderful product!

My 18 month can already sign 45 items. She loves the dvd and cards. The only problem is 1 dvd only plays on the computer. But I would recommend this to everyone. Love it and so does my granddaughter. Thank you.

    ADMIN – Hi Marley,

I have sent a private email your way to coordinate the shipment of a replacement DVD

  31. Melissa Guajardo

I loved how complete the package was (though I didnt get the DVDs back in 2011), still I was expecting to receive laminated flashcards. The type of material in them got dirty the first time we used it and they can’t be cleaned easily.

    ADMIN – Hi Melissa,

Thank you for your feedback. When we decided to use the material selected for the flash cards we had to balance between durability and the risk of exposing babies to plastic. Many parents expressed concerns regarding the materials used for lamination and the fact that babies put objects in their mouth. We decided to go as organic as possible while still delivering a product that is durable and baby-friendly.

  32. Sue Ellen

I bought this product at first because I was positive my daughter was going deaf. She was not responding to her name and stopped talking. It had to be her hearing. In the process of finding these sign tools I was able to break down communication in a way that my daughter could use. She can speak now better but still extremely under her age group. She was able to put her voice to the sign as she would sign. It unlocked her communication block that Autism has left her with. All my moms that ask how Averie has come so far I praise this product along with the Sign A Lot DVDs. This can give not only deaf but other communication challenged a way to be heard.

  33. Jennifer (verified owner)

My 3 1/2 yr old granddaughter loves the DVD’s and flashcards. She will ask to watch Baby Signing Time while she is eating lunch. she practices the signs right along with the other kids. The product is very easy to use.

  34. Teri

We LOVE you guys. When my daughter was about 10 months old, I purchased the Baby Sign Language Kit to help reinforce the signing we do at home and as a tool to teach the babysitter about signing and for her to use to play with my daughter. Now, at 2 years old, my daughter asks to “play flashcards” and we use them all the time – we pick them up and sign with them or we use them for playing “seek”, our made up game where we a) select a card then b) sign the image, and then c) go see if we can find the same/similar item in our house. (With all the stuffed animals and toys and actual household items, we usually succeed with step c). This has been a fun addition to our Signing DVD collection and good reinforcement for our signing at home. And the babysitter benefited from it too!

  35. Rebecca

I loved the kit- as did our son- and can warmly recommend to anyone wanting to learn babysign together with their baby! Great quality products and the absolute favourite were the flash cards which our son absolutely loved!!

  36. Nat (verified owner)

I bought my kit when Master 4 was 4 months old – he’s nearly 11 months now and although hes not signing back yet he understands so many signs. My favourite is ‘all done’, if I dont use the sign he just demands more food. Its been great for all of us and we have so much fun using it. Master 8 doesnt quite understand why his little brother cant sign kite yet but we have fun just the same.
We try and learn a couple of new signs a week – great for the whole family. Thanks so much :)

  37. Toyria Mattear (verified owner)

I absolutely love the cd’s. Not only does my son learn but I learn too. I notice that it’s easier for my son to express himself. Its easier for the both of us. I just leave the cd on and go through it with him. He loves it, I love it, and he’s excited that he is doing something with me. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to start communicating with there LO early. I started this with him when he was 6 months. It works well and he even started to say the words as he did the sign languages.

  38. Michelle

As a mother of a non verbal child with Down Syndrome, this kit has been very helpful! My son loves the flashcards and I loved the dictionary! As an educator for the city in which I work I have the opportunity to teach baby sign and I utilize the poster and the website frequently. The babies love the flashcards, the only thing I wish is that they were plastic because they like to chew them. I would highly recommend this product, great quality for the price as well!

  39. Andrea P

My daughter will be two in October and started watching these videos when she was about four months. It’s so amazing to me how fast she picked up signing. I’ve been learning along with her which has made it fun for both of us. She signed her first sign at 6 months and we were so excited. These videos have become a part of our daily routine. She looks forward to watching them everyday. One of the things I love the most is if she’s trying to tell us something but we can’t understand she can sign it too is!! Not only have these videos given us a learning experience we can enjoy together but it has also help cut down on fits and tantrums do to us not understanding her words as well. Now she speaks and signs simultaneously. I purchased baby signing time for a couple of friends too I loved it so much! I would recommend this to every parent. Such an amazing product!

  40. Earl Corley

I bought these as gifts for the elders of 2 babes caught up in the overwelming American medical sales system ($3000 hearing aids…). Though I don’t expect me to make much use of it, it is pleasing to know about and share your good work. How bout a mobile app that doesn’t need online connectivity?

    ADMIN – Hi Earl,

Thanks for your suggestion. We have been doing some work toward finding a mobile solution that does not require connectivity.

  41. Mike, Ali and Victor (verified owner)

We love the baby sign language kit that we purchased. We got it when our son was just a few months old. He is now almost 2 and his communication skills are outstanding. He still watches and practices his signs. Thanks to this program, he was able to communicate very early on and that cut down on his frustration from us not being able to understand what he was asking for. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!!

  42. Kelia

I started teaching my daughter about 16-18 months. She is two now and tell me when she is hungry, done, wants more, milk and a few more. She can communicate so well. If you are thinking of doing this dont put it off. Children learn so much and they will pick it up quickly. If i had known about this with my oldest daughter i would had used it also.

  43. Alicia (verified owner)

My daughter loved signing. I started signing with her from birth and she signed her first word “milk” at 8 months old. By the time she was 12 months old she could sign 20 words. Because of Baby Signing Time, she learned to speak (and sign the words) at an early age of 15 months speaking 3-word sentences. She loved going through the flash cards and she even asked to watch the DVDs by signing “baby” “signing” “time.” I am so glad I taught her sign language and will definitely be teaching my second baby how to sign.

  44. Nicole S

My daughter and I love the baby sign language flash cards. She learned all of them by 18 months old and was proud to be able to communicate with me. I liked the real life images instead of cartoon caricatures. I felt like my daughter had less tantrums and frustrations because she could communicate basic needs and draw my attention to items she found interesting. For instance, she would sign “airplane” when she heard or saw one going overhead and we could share that moment together. My daughter enjoyed getting out the flash cards and felt a sense of accomplishment identifying each one. I plan on using them again with my 3 month old son. I would highly recommend baby sign language.

My son loves baby signing time. I’m going to buy him the treeschoolers set soon his favorite clip is photosynthesis. I enjoy it as well it is rewarding knowing your learning a new language with your child.

  46. Leslie

My mom got me the kit before my baby was born. I found the intro book was very informational and encouraging. I started using milk really early and by 5 months he understood that sign. At 15 months, he now uses about 10 signs regularly and seems to pick up new ones quickly when we remember to look them up. His favourite signs are ‘cracker’ and ‘more’.
We love baby sign language because he doesn’t speak much yet and is learning both French and English, so sign language gives us an easy way to communicate. I also really appreciate the online videos because sometimes it’s hard to tell what the picture in the dictionary is trying to tell you to do. Overall a great product!

  47. Raimana

My baby has 8 months today. She signs ‘milk’ only. But we are Learning other words. We use many signs as we can in daily activities.

  48. Caroline Hather

Very high quality product, great not only for sign language but also for language generally or classification learning (food, animals, outside things etc). Great in conjunction with the website for when you can’t quite figure out the sign from the picture (the illustrations are great but it’s a tricky thing to communicate). Definitely recommend – I have no doubt that using baby sign language reduced tantrums significantly!

  49. Barron (verified owner)

Baby Sign Language is outstanding! We bought this for our granddaughter. She loved the tunes and picked up the signing quickly. She especially loved “Diaper Dance.”

I believe that Baby Sign Language really removes a child’s frustration yearning to communicate. She could not say milk, eat, Mommy, or Daddy but she sure did pick up the signs. For a grandpa, my granddaughter and I would sit and watch the DVD endlessly and learn the signs together. Priceless memories.

Now she can talk a bit. But, we still communicate through the signs.

This product allows for communication and reinforces the importance of a willingness to learn.

  50. Ari Livers

My daughter is able to communicate with sign language in combination with her starting to talk and I can understand what she needs and she can also tell others who know the signs what she needs. It is incredible to watch her catch on. It is an amazing learning tool and I Highly recommend it.

  51. Sara

It was a good quality product – and still is. It has survived one child at this point and is taking on a second as I write this. The images are very clear and the flash cards really cover a lot of the words that children first learn. It was a very well conceived product. My eldest (almost 3) caught on to verbal language very early and I believe the sign language helped her do so. Also, I’m not sure if this is more a reflection of her temperament or what, but she didn’t really tantrum much at all. I believe that knowing how to communicate with us before she could talk was instrumental in alleviating a lot of frustration on her part, thus mitigating many a tantrum. *My second child is still very young so I can’t speak to what his experience will be.

  52. Pearl Jenkinson

My child was advanced from birth, and I was always looking for ways to stimulate her desire to learn and grow. This kit was indispensable for years. She LOVED it and I learned another language. I had been intimidated at the thought of learning signs enough to teach her and this kit beyond all others stands out because it really breaks it down into a manageable even enjoyable activity. I have recommended this kit to every new mom I know who aspires to be active involved and relish every moment of motherhood.

My goodness, I should have done a review for this product sooner! Thank you for inviting me to review.
I purchased the Baby Sign Language Premium Kit when my daughter was approximately 6-7 months old. I was an enthusiastic teacher and she was an enthusiastic learner and I feel that her feeling that she had a way to communicate perpetuated her love for learning the signs that I was teaching her. She was an early talker and now at 33 months old she can rival the conversation of many 5 year olds and surpasses that of most 2 year olds she plays with.

I will tell anyone when they ask what my secret was that I learned and taught her signs at an early age and I speak to her as though she can understand perfectly what I am saying. I explain everything – long before she could speak. After we learned and started using a few signs with the cards, I started taking them with us on outings. I didn’t want to let an opportunity pass us by where she could associate the word and sign I was trying to teach her with the thing that she was seeing while we were at the grocery store, park, etc. Eventually I only reinforced those signs that were relevant to us because she did start talking pretty early, but I continued to use the cards (in a different way) to help her develop language (by showing her the cards, pointing things out and talking about them…similar to using them as flashcards, but outside of signing). She loves to look through them even today. I’d highly recommend this set to any parent who is interested in giving their kids a head start on language development. The illustrations are vivid, the cards and other materials are high quality and can stand up to the hands of a growing baby! The dictionary was easy to throw in my bag when we were out (and necessary) for me to be consistent.

    Thank you many times over!

  54. Luz

Excellent program to avoid frustrations while trying to communicate with your baby…. our daughter (now 3) stills use some signs she learned even when she can perfectly communicate by talking… not only that but it help her to learn words faster as well… i totally recommend it!

  55. Crystal Holder

My son LOVES the Signing Time Resources! He begs (with his signs of course) to watch babies. He has learned close to 50 signs that he uses regularly. My son has Down Syndrome and signing has opened up a world of communication to him that he would not otherwise have without his signs. The dictionary and flash cards are an invaluable resource!

  56. Cassidy

Great introductory foundation for baby. Especially useful for families with hearing impaired members. Gives baby the early skills of communicating with those hearing impaired family members.

  57. Abraham (verified owner)

We ordered one of the larger kits and are satisfied with the results. We keep the flash cards and audio cd in the baby mobile and we have the poster in her room so we can reference it frequently. We put the dvds near our living room tv. So the complete kit was worth it for us because we have it everywhere. It serves as a reminder to us our child’s parents that we need to keep up with it.

Every parent knows that kids learn quick, but this program is proof that babies are very intelligent at a very early stage. Just because they can’t speak (verbally), it doesn’t mean that we can’t communicate physically. Baby Sign Language simplified it for us. Yes, we get our occasional tantrums, but knowing my daughter has my temper, I know this program has reduced those tantrums to just a few of them or has shortened the durations of the ones she has. The other benefit we experienced is that my wife and I can sign to each other from a distance when we need something for the baby.

  58. Becca Luce (verified owner)

We owe a lot of or daughters manners and well being to Baby Signing Time! She is able to study her sign language with her movies and flash cards while I study myself!

  59. Latoya

I thought this was a great program and my children were interested up through their toddler years and even my 6 year old is still trying to teach herself signs and she is in kindergarten! The only thing I would improve is maybe having a DVD that the children could watch intermittently for times when you still want then to receive sign language instruction but you may not have a chance to do one on one time at that moment. Other than that it’s a great program!

  60. Heather

Shortly after my daughter’s birth, I purchased the basic Baby Sign Language teaching kit. I had heard that it can be helpful to teach a child sign language because they can learn to communicate with their hands before they learn to speak. I had no idea how impactful it would be in our daily lives! I signed a few simple signs for my daughter, starting when she was 4 mos. She signed her first sign when she was 8 mos. Just keeping steady with showing her a few new signs (whenever she is ready for more), she is now almost 18 mos. and learning a sign a day – and it’s just not fast enough for her. She wants to communicate so much more than I’ve taught her, and she’s making up her own signs. I think we’ll continue to learn and teach sign to her even as she begins to speak. It’s been invaluable to our family and the relationships she has because she can connect with people on her level of understanding of the world. As you can tell, I can’t say enough good things about Baby Sign Language! :D

  61. Lilredclover (verified owner)

This program is AMAZING!! I started working on signs with my daughter when she was only 4 months old and by the time she was 6 months she was signing back some of the basics. Now she is 18 months and besides being able to sign almost her whole vocabulary she has advanced word production. Family and Strangers alike are astounded at the words she knows, can say, or mimic. I give immense credit to Baby Sign Language for aiding in my daughter’s development. She loves to sign to the DVDs and is OBSESSED with the flash cards, she loves being able to sign all of them (plus doing the animal sounds) and the praise she receives when using them. Overall this product is an investment that continues to pay dividends, I recommend Baby Sign Language to everyone I know who have young children. SO HAPPY I DECIDED TO MAKE THIS PURCHASE!!!!

  62. Deanna DeBondt

This curriculum is outstanding started using it at 3 months and by 6 months both babies were signing.

We have loved welcoming Rachel, Leah, Alex and Hopkins into our home from when my daughter, Mika was 10months old. I attribute her excellent language skills to Baby Signing time and cannot stress enough how valuable and amazing it has been for us to enjoy watching these videos & seeing the incredible results in our baby, now 2.5year old toddler respond and sign words and now talk so beautifully. I just bought her the potty time series and I’ve put aside the beginner words for her new baby sister who is a month old. Thank you all for the excellent videos, catchy & lovely songs that we have on our TV and in the car.

  64. Lani S

We absolutely love the cards with the picture on one side and the sign on the other. We started using them with our son at 6 months old and he was signing his needs well before he could speak them. Thank you!

  65. Shastina (verified owner)

My daughter loves to sign! And this kit was incredible she picked up on sign language so fast for a 12 month old.

  66. Marco

As parents of twin boys, these cards and book were priceless in helping us to communicate with them at an early age. It has helped them express themselves much more easily and gave my wife and I a very fun activity to do with them. In fact, it actually taught us as well, which helped us communicate in crowded or noisy environments. I would highly recommend these to anyone with a new baby or babies.

  67. Keeley

We loved our kit. My son really enjoyed the flashcards and took well to learning his signs. This is a great way to help them communicate when their verbal skills are still developing, but they are ready to communicate!

  68. Bobbie (verified owner)

We love this kit!! We started signing with my daughter since birth and she just turned 19 months old this month. The poster is a big help to remind my husband to sign with her. My daughter loves watching the Baby Signing Time DVDs and now she will look through the flash cards practicing her vocabularies and her signs.

  69. Josee Godmaire

I run a dayhome and this is the BEST purchase I made. The kids love that even me !
It’s easy to understand illustrations of signs !
    Thank you so much !

  70. SpeechPath2016

This product is a valuable tool in my kit for Speech Therapy for young and very young children. The pictures are simple and easy to interpret visually. The children respond to the colors and when paired with simple objects, they begin to make and establish a connection between the object/picture and increase comprehension of using communication to request and comment. Additionally, it helps parents and guardians to learn to use simple sign language to communicate with their child. Excellent product and I highly recommend it for any child. This program makes communication, which is very abstract, into a more concrete and easier to understand system.

  71. Jennifer (verified owner)

Very good product. The DVD’s are wonderful. My 3 yr old granddaughter likes to sit and watch them, she will sign along with them and has learned more signs by herself. I bought this program for her to communicate with us before she started talking. She learned the signs quickly and was using them appropriately. I would highly recommend this product.

  72. Melissa Wolf (verified owner)

This system has been an awesome help teaching my granddaughter to sign. When she was 2, she was diagnosed to be within the autism spectrum and with Apraxia of Speech, basically she knows what she wants to say, but her brain and mouth do not communicate properly. This resulted in her just making random noises and getting very frustrated when we didn’t understand her. Adding signs to her vocabulary has allowed us to understand her better and work properly on her pronunciation. Since including signing into her communication, the frequency of meltdowns has dramatically decreased, as there is much less frustration. The flashcards are clear and colorful and the videos are engaging enough to hold her attention. I am extremely happy with this program and have recommended it to several of my friends.

One thing I would like to see is more zoo animals. We have an annual pass to the local zoo and she wants to know what the signs are for all the animals. There are a few I haven’t been able to find (if they even exist) and she’s not ready for fingerspelling yet.

  73. Merly DC

I would do it again over and over. This kit is fun and very helpful. I highly recommend to sign to your baby as well as using this product which help my baby boy who is today 3.5 years old so much. His level of understanding is impressive, his vocabulary huge. My Daniel can establish conversations today in a way I notice is not normal for a kid his age. I am very happy we used sign language at home, this lowered the level of frustration when he was a baby and is working the same with our 10 moth baby too. She is already signing back and asking for what she wants (Up, down, more, milk, all done, banana, and much more!) Also is wonderful to help them feel empowered from the beginning and express their feelings.

  74. MALIKA

Baby signing worked amazingly for my son. As soon as he realized that he could use his hands to communicate, my son became so eager to learn the sign for everything. I think this also attributed to his early speech development as well. He began speaking at 8 months, saying the words of all the signs we use. Signing helped us to really understand each other and minimize his frustration. I highly recommend Baby Sign Language to all parents.

  75. Keira (verified owner)

I knew very little about sign language and never planned to make it a part of my child’s life, but when she started using signs she learned from a babysitter I thought I’d check into it. We ordered this kit right at 1 year and had no idea how big of a hit it would be! Not only does she LOVE them, but really learns from them! A year later we now have all the Signing Time DVDs and a 2 year old child who is an extremely advanced communicator. She loves to watch the videos and Rachel is amazing at teaching not only signs, but concepts along with them – colors, numbers, letters, and so much more. I always get comments on how smart my child is and I truly have to give Signing Time so much credit. I am a believer and so appreciative that this is available!

  76. Katie Jones (verified owner)

Everything you need to fully embrace baby sign language! My 17 month old loves signing and her spoken words are coming on great too – the signing is definitely helping with this. The flash cards are an absolute favourite. I would definitely recommend buying this kit.

  77. Tina Simmons

Sign language works for babies! Our daughter was able to communicate with us before she could talk. Then when she started making word sounds, we knew what she was saying because of the signing she would do. The kit we bought was fun and easy to follow; signing pictures are done well; information is relevant.

  78. Carol Shepko

I believe you get out what you put in. Initially I was the only one using the sign language cards with my granddaughter and you could tell. The big difference came when her mother started using them. She is almost 1-1/2 now and last week when we were at the beach she indicated she was hungry by using the eat sign. She has certain favorites and uses them. I find her most receptive when I first get her up in the morning. Keep in mind I was only able to work with her a couple times in a month. I am very satisfied.

  79. Melanie

We started signing with my daughter at 4 months. By 6 months, she could sign milk when she wanted a bottle. By 18 months, she knew & used over 100 signs. We had so much less frustration & tears, because she was able to communicate her desires. Even if she just signs “cry” to me when she is upset, it seems to settle her down to be able to tell us she feels like crying. As she has started talking more, she uses her signs less, but still uses them to clarify if we don’t understand her words, & especially when she is tired. We LOVE baby sign language!! It is so easy to do, & it is life changing! For people with the misguided belief that signing delays talking, it may be helpful to know that my daughter’s pediatrician considers her language development advanced! When we bought our kit, the CDs and DVDs weren’t available, so I can’t comment on those. The only thing that keeps me from giving this kit 5 stars is the dictionary. It is hard to understand without written descriptions, does not include some common words, & has several mistakes. I was actually teaching my daughter the wrong sign for a word, based on the dictionary! I wholeheartedly recommend this program, but do not recommend the dictionary at all. I think even if you just teach your child a few basic signs, it will be rewarding. But once you get started, neither you nor your child will want to stop!

  80. Diana

I use this with my daycare kids. They picked up on the basic signs very quickly. Families are impressed that they learn ASL in my program.

  81. Stacy Nivert

Our son had speech issues and this kit was invaluable in helping us all through that time. We ended up using more than 100 signs and the resources helped us, our son and his day care all learn how to communicate with him. The dictionary is fabulous for more advanced and extensive vocabulary. The rest of the materials were also great. It really was a lifesaver and we have passed it on to our speech therapist to help other families. Best investment ever.

I wish I can upload the video of my baby going through the stack of flash card and signing each animal and food items. She’s 18 month old and my mind is blown. The manual and dictionary works together and the online video is what I found most helpful. It’s a good package to start I think for parents who want to teach enough for toddler to communicate. Tricks to remember each signs, how to take opportunity to teach sign. This is a great product at a reasonable price. I can’t say this is all that I used to teach my baby that’s why I put 4 stars. I used this to educate myself and my baby actually watches the Baby Signing time series DVD. But this is a great teaching plan for parents on teaching strategy. One more thing, I have to say the dictionary with illustration and arrows to indicate motion is pretty good for a 2D representation.

    ADMIN-Hi Melody,
We would love to see the videos of your little one. You can submit them to [email protected]

I heard about baby signing thru my sister and nephew. She did not get this set but my nephew learned the basic signs and I thought it was delightful. I did my own research and led me to this. It was an unbeatable price compared to buying the books, flashcards, poster and DVDs separately. Research said not to get babies hooked on TV < 2 years old. Well, if its a learning educational show/DVD whats the big deal. Evidence based research changes all the time. We started watching the DVDs at 6 months old and showing flashcards. First sign he made was at 8 months "milk" we got so excited he cried because I practically yelled in his ear how proud I was. SORRY! I had the poster on our pantry door to practice while he is on his high chair. At age one he was able to communicate his needs by signing or both signing and mumbling the words. Now he is 20 months and he's never tired or sick of watching the DVDs. And sometimes he's the one who'll say stop or turn off when he's finished. He recognizes a lot of the flashcards and tries to say what they are. I used the dictionary as reference. We even made a few signs of our own. As for the the guide book, I just browsed thru it. I read the first few chapters on how to start signing and teaching my kid. Its all about repetition, practice and patience. Best of all interacting your child. Seeing that smile and laugh when he accomplish something. When he gets frustrated I tell him to sign it and I try to help him say the words and signing at the same time. Sometimes it helps and he calms down. But of course he's still a toddler.

I can’t recommend these materials enough. We are a bilingual family and sign language has allowed us to fully understand what my daughter is communicating regardless of the verbal language she uses. The kit was easy to use and my daughter loves the cards. I would suggest the kit includes one resource for more advanced signers. We have learned all the signs in the cards and the dictionary and we are ready to move on to the next level. An advanced resource in the kit would have been optimal for us. This kit has really helped my family to incorporate sign language in our daily live.

All I can say is…WOW! OK – a bit of history here…I babysit my next door neighbors’ little girl 2 days a week. I started when she was 3 months old. I wanted to make a difference in her life – not just “babysit” if you know what I mean. So…her 1st birthday was coming up (Dec 2014) and I wanted to do something that was meaningful. A friend of mine suggested Baby Sign Language, I did some research and found THIS! We started right way (2 days a week watching the videos) and the results were amazing! Took a few weeks for her to learn the first signs…but then… She exploded!!! By 16 months she was doing over 50 signs (not all perfect, however that’s ok)! To this day (August 2015) she knows almost 200 signs (not all perfect) and will be 20 months old on the 20th of August. Her parents are so thankful because she can communicate what she wants, and also if she is hurting, or doesn’t feel good! I can’t thank you all enough for giving me this “gift” of a second language for this precious little girl! I have since ordered the Signing Time Complete Collections (26 DVDs in all I think), and we are having a blast with that!

  86. Joann

Our daughter is slow to talk which is normal in our family (move focused on moving), but being able to communicate through sign has been a life saver. She is 18 months now and can tell us what she wants or doesn’t want. It also encourages her to talk while she signs, since she sees we are able to understand her. We started singing early but it wasn’t until about a year that she took interest. I think it was still soaking in before that.

Fantastic product. Arrived within a week to New Zealand. We haven’t bothered purusing the signing as our 16 month old seemed to be saying the words faster than she was learning the signs but the DVDs are great entertainment and she loves watching all the kids doing the signing and she sings along to all the catchy songs. The only negative is that some of the words used are not words we would use in New Zealand (i.e. we say nappy not diaper). But overall fantastic value and money well spent.

We had started with some basic signs from the website when my son was about six months old. After the first 10 or so basic signs, I was unable to remember the signs from the website long enough to communicate them to my son. So I bought this package when my son was about 18 months old. We started with only the DVDs. Not only did he learn, but my older children and I did as well! Even more miraculous is that we all ENJOYED IT! At 2 my son was still not a big talker but thanks to the DVDs, he signed enough to get his point across and eliminate many tantrums. Because he still wasn’t talking much, I reluctantly started doing the flash cards with him. We started by placing 4 on the floor at a time and having him point to the card I was saying and signing. Then we would do the sign together. Holy Smokes! That caused an eruption of knowledge for my 2 yr old! At 2 1/2 he now knows every single flash card and begs to do his cards multiple times per day. He follows people around with the box saying, “MY CARDS! MY CARDS!” until you agree to do them with him. He has forced my skeptical husband to learn the signs too, which is hilariously entertaining. Adding in the flash cards finally got my son excited about talking too, which has been a huge relief for us. The fact that he does the sign while he is trying to say a word verbally has really helped me to know what he is telling or asking me. Words cannot express how thankful I am for this product! The flash cards are extremely durable and well made. They are a thick, cardboard material, not laminated paper. Despite the fact that we are not gentle with them and we use them several times per day, they are really holding up! The DVDs are even more fun now that we’ve watched them enough to remember the signs. The CDs are fun. He loves to dance to the music while he practices his signs (usually in the car). This product has introduced a love of signing into our home. My 10 yr old and I are now planning to take a sign language course because we have unexpectedly enjoyed signing so much!
Bottom line, if you watch the DVDs you will pick up the signs and they will stick for you and your child. And then you will want to do more. The product is super fun, super easy to use and super fantastic! We cannot thank you enough for this fabulous product!

We bought the Baby Sign Language set for our grandson who is speech delayed, about a year and a half ago. He started a program at a neighborhood elementary school and they had begun teaching sign language to him. After doing some research online, we found Baby Sign Language and bought it for home use.

Although not deaf or hard of hearing, he understands everything that we told him, he just couldn’t articulate what he wanted to say. Our grandson’s frustration level went from very high to very low after a couple of weeks of working with the sign language program. He was able to tell us what it was he wanted and we were finally able to have him communicate back with us! He picked up words much faster than we did and he enjoyed teaching us new words he learned at school. I would often pretend that I had “forgotten” a sign or would make a “wrong” sign to encourage him to correct me! It worked 99% of the time!

Since then, his language skills have picked up, but there are still times when he falls back on sign language to communicate. We even use it to remind him to say “please” and “thank you” without verbally reminding him and everyone thinks he is such a polite young boy for remembering his manners! :) I have since donated the Baby Sign Language set to his school (which they were extremely grateful for), but we still frequent the website for signs either to practice or remind us of various words.

We would recommend this program to anyone that is experiencing communication problems with a young child.

  90. Julie

I have the poster on my son’s room and he routinely likes to go through the flash cards. It has helped my son who is under 3 years of age learn just under 40 signs. It is amazing at how quick kids can pick up different signs if they are exposed to them.

  91. Karin

Beautiful and easy to implement materials!

  92. Aline Steele

Baby sign language was a wonderful resource for communicating with my daughter when she was a baby. I started signing for her at about 6 months of age and it took her a while to begin signing herself but she understood what I was signing and often reacted to that. It was pretty magical to me when she started to sign. We used it a lot and after a while she began making up her own signs, lol. I totally recommend BSL and will definitely use it with our next baby.

  93. Amanda

I bought the full kit a few years ago. It was amazing and so detailed, it made learning BSL a breeze. The videos helped me so much, in case I was confused on how to make a sign, the videos were right there to show me.

We LOVE Baby Signing Time and the Baby Sign Language Premium Kit. Our daughter asks to watch the videos each morning as part of our morning routine, and even her much older brothers know the words to the songs and can sing along – which is hilarious! We often meet people who are surprised with how well she is able to communicate via Sign Language and I recommend the Baby Sign Lanugage products to them. We are teaching her three languages and although her spoken words are not yet as abundant as her peers, she is able to communicate with us very well and I definitely see how empowering this is for her. She seems to pick up the signs very quickly and I’m able to build on what we learn here with my formal American Sign Language education. I’m very glad we made the decision to commit to this program for our child. Thank you!

The flash cards and videos were invaluable in developing our daughter’s speech. We bought the kit when she was about 1 1/2 and it really helped us communicate with her. Now that she is 2 1/2, it’s obvious that her verbal skills are advanced compared to many other children her age. We’ve expanded beyond these, but she still asks to use the flash cards and watch the videos. It really helps me when I don’t quite understand what she is trying to say that she can use a sign to make herself understood! I would buy this again in a heartbeat!

  96. jodi Sabatino

Enjoyed the product my daughter loves the cards. Also appreciate the free online videos. Helped to clarify signs and baby enjoyed watching. Am going to use them for my second child as well

  97. Vivianne

I love this product! I was able to teach my then 5 month old baby sign language. Communication was so much easier.

  98. Lerin (verified owner)

I think this product is very useful for teaching children sign language and my daughter, who is now four uses the cards that come in the set to practice her words and she is trying to do the signs too, so in that respect it is very useful for any parent who has a child who is a baby and on as they get older. Thank you for making this product available and so easy to use, there is nothing out there like that I have I seen and I have two kids and there wasn’t really anything around when my son was younger so now with my daughter it is very useful!!

  99. Martha Jones

Since this was purchased as a gift for my nephew and his wife on birth of their first child, I cannot tell you how much I liked it. I can tell you, however, that their little girl is quite vocal, articulate, and imaginative and she is now teaching her baby sister to sign. I’d say they are quite pleased, and would rate it a five star!

I used this kit with my firstborn and it really worked wonders! Before he was able to communicate with speech he was using his signs to show me he was hungry, he wanted something to drink, or even that he needed a diaper change! I loved it so much 2 years later when he had a baby brother I was ready to use it all over again. Now both my boys 3 d soon to be 2 years old us baby signing on a daily basis and they continue to grow in it. I even felt it helped develop their speech better. Our friends would be impressed at how clearly my children were speaking so early on especially compared to others and I really feel baby signing time was a great contributing factor to this!

  101. Sherri

I loved this kit! My little boy was able to communicate at such a young age! The descriptions are easy to understand and the flash cards turned into a lot of fun games. The poster is still hanging on the wall. He is 21 months now, and babbling away, but still loves to do his signs. We’ll definitely use it again for his baby brother who is due next month!

My son loves the DVDs and signs for me to play them for him regularly. The material and dvds also made it easy for my husband and I to learn too. It has made communicating with my son so much easier at such a young age. I was impressed at how fast he started signing.

  103. Leah

I enjoyed this set with my son as a baby. He understood a lot of the signs, though he never started signing them back to us. All in all it was helpful though and I’m sure if we had invested more time into it we would have done even better.

  104. Alicia

My baby LOVES LOVES LOVES the videos. At first I was watching them for myself to learn the signs, she would be in the room too. Then I noticed that she was copying the signs that she was seeing. She would ask for more by signing “more baby signing time please” before she could speak a word. She was 8 months old when she signed her first sign. By 12 months she knew 20 signs. By 13 months, she could go through all the flash cards and saying most of the words. She is now 2 years old and speaks full sentences and uses her signs when I do not understand what she’s trying to tell me verbally. I strongly believe ASL is a great way to fast track their communication skills.

  105. Amanda Bates

When my 18month old son was not developing speech normally I bought this set to help. Teaching him signs has really helped reduce his frustration and it makes life easier for all of us since he can communicate his basic needs. All of the products were really helpful but we use the flash cards the most. Now he is almost three and has been diagnosed with childhood apraxia of speech and he has had weekly speech therapy weekly for the past year. I really can not imagine our life if we had not gotten him started doing signs. I would recommend this as a tool for anyone whose child has delayed language development!

  106. Ashley

I bought this shortly after my daughter was born. That was 2+ years ago. I started learning as many signs as I could and used them when ever they came up in daily activites. My husband has also enjoyed learning and signing. My daughter started signing for “milk, please” at 9 months, very suddenly and hasn’t stopped. Some had worried that signing would delay speech development, but my daughter started speaking just after a year. She will sign when she is frustrated and can’t get the words out because she is crying or when she can’t remember the verbal word. We are still introducing more signs as we learn more. She has thoroughly loved looking thoroughly the cards and the dictionary. This has been a great product and we really have enjoyed it!

  107. Wendy Lillie

My granddaughter enjoys the flash cards. At 16 she has never spoken. She loves to have me speak the name of each picture and then she tries to sign. She has quite a few of them down. We keep working at it.

Our Grandaughter, Lainey,19 months old, loves “Baby Signing Time”. She gets so excited at dinner time when her mom puts it on and she is mezmerized. They flew to Disneyworld and she watched it on the plane, it kept her spell bound. Lainey can communicate without talking. It is wonderful. No frustration in trying to figure out what she wants, for example she signs: more, done, apple juice, water. She is even teaching MomMom and PopPop how to sign. It is an incredible tape.It is very well done. The colors are vibrant the expressions on the teacher and the other children are lively and captivating. Every baby should learn how to sign. It makes her the happiest baby on the block.

Thank u for this product as it is amazing. I have been so thrilled to teach my daughter to sign. She is doing so well with this program & so am I. It’s so wonderful to learn different languages. My daughter can sign, speak English & also speak Spanish too. My dream is for her to get a great job with these skills on her resume. Your product should be in every home around the globe because signing with your children opens awesome doors in all of our lives. It has helped my daughter communicate with people so she can feel confident, excited & determined in her life. She can tell us what’s wrong, what she feels, what she sees, what she needs & wants too. She learned to sign first, then the English & spanish words came next. We will keep doing this program for years so she can actually communicate in 3 ways to people around the globe with her sign language, English lavguage & Spanish lavguage too. It been exciting to see her face light up with new bright understanding as her brain grows in sign language. Thanx a million. MC

We started sign with our son when he was a few weeks old. Purchased the starter kit when he was about 18 months. I wish we wouldve started sooner it was amazing! He fell in love with everything and would ask for more videos or to watch again. He picked up on the signs rather fast and it was a great way for us to all learn together since this was the only asl experience we have. he is now 2 and speaks but still signs and asks to watch his videos. I love that it gave him a way to express his emotions and us know exactly what he needs. I heard about terrible twos but with Alek being able to communicate I have not dealt with anything.

  111. Veronica

I find this Baby Sign Language a very good product, it helps to develop babys and kids skills and not just that they are learning sign language but it helps them to learn in a different way, even I as a parent am learning in a fun way.

  112. Janine Peters

I really appreciated the teaching guide, lots of useful information in there that definitely helped my approach to encouraging my baby girl to sign. I started using signs with her at 4 months. It was slow going the first cpl.months but I kept with it. She is now almost a year and she can sign 14 signs and is picking new ones up faster than I could have ever imagined. She loves the signing time dvds and uses her signs to let us know when.she wants to watch them.
    This.is and excellent.kit for a reasonable price.

I absolutely love this baby sign language kit, it’s well worth the money to invest in your child’s education my son is learning 3 language at a time so his verbal vocabulary isn’t as strong as children who only learn one language. This kit has helped us communicate so easy he is 2 years old now and he sign when he wants something or sees an animal his favorite sign is shoes.. I started this program when he was 8 months old. The dvds are the best I watched them once and know the signs after that.. the dvds are very fun and easy to learn from I put them on for my kids in the car. The flash cards are my favorite because they are a thick cardboard and so easy to learn from as well. The only down fall to this is there aren’t more options to buy. I would love if they expanded from the cards that came with the kit. I would purchase them in a heart beat.. the poster is a great tool for people like visitors to see what your child is signing. The book that you read it helps you to understand how your child will understand the language.. it also comes with a book for more signs to learn it helps so much but a little harder to understand how to do the sign correctly that’s where I wish more cards came into play.. over all I would recommend this kit to any and everyone who wants to teach there child a new language or just wants to communicate with there child before they speak.. I love it and so do my children

My 18 month old loves the baby signing time videos. She has been watching them for only 3-4 months and knows the majority of the words. She may not be able to sign all of them yet but understands when they are signed to her. I am looking forward to introducing more signing time including the alphabet and colors to her in the near future.

I purchased this kit with my newborn grandson in mind, however his Mother was not interested in utilizing it. During that year, my other daughter had a newborn girl and she was very interested in the kit. Every my daughter played the videos and she and her husband used the signs as they interacted with my granddaughter. My granddaughter LOVED this kit and from early on would sign her requests. As the first year went by, she began speaking and signing. She would verbally request “Baby” (the videos) and sign “baby signing time”. The videos are interactive, fun, musical and greatly assist the child’s early learning skills. My granddaughter will be two this week and I find her vocabulary, her comprehension of everyday events and her memory are, in my opinion, way ahead of her age group and her three year old cousin! I believe this product to be helpful and fun for children and adults alike. One of the best purchases one can make to benefit child development.

  116. Jeff Wickham

My three year old has loved doing “the cards” since she was 6mo old. More cards please:)

  117. Jessica

We loved this kit. My daughter is 11 months and carries the card all over the place. She loves signing and knows so many words. It has really helped our communication. I really love the website and I use the dictionary all the time. I wish I would have bought the cd and books with it.

Whenever I can, recommend Baby sign language, because the results of the method not only surprised us when my second child learnt to communicate at her early life, but I think, it taught us the habit of teaching to communicate, which turn to be very helpful. I think that the method has several strengths, it proposes early stimulation on children, it is based on simple principles that parents can follow easily, its continuity and engagement builds strong links between the parents and the child, it may be a great help for multilingual children, and it is simply rewarding when your child signs back at a very young age!

  119. Betsy

Great pictures and explanations. I am a speech therapist and find the material useful and basic enough to share with parents. I refer parents to your website too. Love it! Definitely would recommend it!

These were a great tool to use. My son really enjoyed the movies! We’ve used them since he was about 8 months old. He didn’t really pick it up like I had hoped, but at 2 now, he suddenly is using signs! It’s so neat to see and be able to better understand him! I would recommend this kit to anyone wanting to try out sign language. It’s really the best price for all these tools. And you never know what tool your baby/ child will pick up on the most.

  121. Avsmom

Great product! This product has really helped my 2 year old to communicate with me as her speech develops, less whining!

  122. Kristin

We used this to teach my daughter sign language. The book and flash cards were very helpful. I also really liked the online dictionary with the video demonstration of the sign-my mind just worked better to see it visually done. I highly recommend teaching sign language. It was easy to teach, my daughter picked it up easily and continues to add new signs for more difficult words she cannot say at almost two years old.

  123. Lindsay

Baby Sign Language includes clear and easy to understand illustrations of signs. We focused on 15-20 signs that related to our daily lives and found that it helped our baby/toddler communicate with us. Signs can reduce frustration for baby and parent during those pre-verbal months when a child knows what they want but can’t say it yet. We also found signs to be useful for our toddler during quiet times like church, when talking would be disruptive, but he still wanted to ask questions. Our children learned signs from parents using them during regular speech. We did not utilize flash cards, or have a designated time to teach signs. Overall a positive experience and a quality product.

  124. Emma

I learned about Baby Sign Language from my sister. We got the kit and started signing when Matt was 7 months old and he got it after just a few weeks. Now he can do mommy, daddy, eat, and more. It is so much fun and so useful. He just smiles and smiles when he does a sign and we understand him.

We have just started using the flash cards, and he doesn’t know any of those signs yet, but he loves playing with them. The DVDs are a big hit. He loves to watch them, and it gives me a spare moment to catch up on chores. My only regret is that he only watches one of the DVDs so I probably could have gotten the cheaper kit, oh well maybe he will watch the others when he is older.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

  125. Kiwis Momma

This was the BEST purchase we made for our son. He loves to sign. Even my husband who was sceptical loves it now.

I started sign language with my son when he just 1 months old. I don’t know where I got the idea from to introduce sign language. I’m sure it was in the middle of the night in between feedings when you can’t go to sleep and you start to love your phone because it’s with you and ready to engage more than your sleeping spouse. Oh, I digressed. I introduced the basic signs to him: milk, mommy, daddy, more and please. The discs were introduced by 2 months (child development specialists cringe as much as you want to, it’s my child) and they were the only things that’s ever really kept his attention. Even at 16 months, he is still excited about Baby Signing Time. I wished I used the flash cards and poster that came with the entire package more but I don’t sweat that. I am using them now. At 16 months he’s fully aware of things based on the videos this I do recognize compared to other kids his age. For his birthday we had a segment where the kids did Old McDonald Had A Farm and it was a big hit. People have asked what we use because he signs a lot now and I’m always tweeting his milestones. I say consistent practice WITH your baby is going to be key. I’m a doctoral student and I work full-time. At the end of the day, I just want to relax but he’s learning is important. Now, I’m on to Spanish Immersion. You won’t go wrong with this product. I hope you find this review helpful.

  127. Dianna

It really works! I started it when he was only a couple of months old just to have it in his environment and I think it helped him catch on early and quickly. We even continued to use the flash cards for the photos alone when he started talking. This kit was worth every penny and I am so glad we decided to take the sign language route for a form of early communication. He started day care when he was 18 months and they also used baby sign language–yet another reason I am glad we had a head start. The video assistance provided by the BSL website was very helpful. I recommend this product/kit to anyone considering teaching BSL. It also makes a great gift!

  128. H

I LOVE the product! We find the flash cards are also really helpful for the spoken word as well as we are a bilingual household! Our only regret is that we gave up too soon. We thought our son was not interested and stopped around the one year mark. Then at 16mths to our astonishment, in a very fussy moment, we realised he was signing that he was hungry and wanted to eat!!! We have not looked back since!
So stick with it!!! A great help in avoiding melt downs!!! Not to mention a beautiful language for us all to learn!

I gave this product the highest of ratings because from start to finish, my impression of the product and this company was fantastic! My questions were answered by Baby Sign Language staff with enthusiasm and genuine passion for spreading the benefits of using sign language for any family. The products arrived quickly (even being shipped to Canada) and the quality of the products and user friendly teaching method exceeded my expectations. This is a rare combination of excellence in consumer products. Congratulations Baby Sign Language!

From everything I’ve seen, I am pretty sure that our daughter is much less prone to tantrums and way more observant about the world, since she has language to describe what she’s seeing. She’s starting to combine signs in sentence-like combos now. Other non-signing kids are barely able to speak enough words to say that they’re hungry. She’s also speaking more words than the other kids too. She speaks while signing now. It helps us interpret the baby-talk. All in all, I’d do it again in a heartbeat. Love, love, love!

My daughter is not quite one year old and already knows over a dozen signs, and I cannot imagine life without baby sign language. She is so chatty! When we walk down the street she points out trees, birds, and dogs, and she can easily tell us when she wants milk, food, crackers, cheese, or a diaper change. Seriously, I don’t know how people parent a pre-verbal child who does not know baby sign language! The kit was really the most helpful learning tool we had. My daughter loves playing with the flashcards, looking at all the pictures, and naming the signs she knows. I really do recommend the Deluxe kit whole heartedly!!

I read a book on baby sign language and was working with my 8 month old daughter for nearly two months but she wasn’t getting it. I was so disappointed and frustrated. I came to this site and asked a few questions. I got a very quick response and decided to order the kit. My goal was to teach my daughter just the critical signs to help her communicate with me. I read the book, changed my approach slightly and my daughter started signing! I was so excited – it worked!! One day she started playing with the flash cards so I showed her a few signs. A week later, I said one of the words and she gave me the sign for it! I was shocked! At 14 months, she knows at least 30 signs and loves signing. She points to planes and birds in her story books and does the sign. I use the dictionary often to look up words and my daughter loves playing with the flash cards. The Deluxe Kit is the way to go! I love that when my daughter gets fussy in the car I can ask her what is wrong and she signs a response.

I purchased BSL for my (at the time) 7 month old baby. I was so determined because I have heard some babies learn at 6 months. He is now 14 month and still only uses the sign “milk” which is fine. I sign to him as much words as I know in hopes of him copying me, but he really does not. BUT, he understands what I am signing. I can honestly say, I probably did not do a program as consistently as I could have, so that could be why. Or I am not doing it right. I feel all children learn at their own pace, and I feel he is just not ready yet. The fact that he uses the sign milk, has seriously been so beneficial. I breastfeed still, so regardless, I know that is what he wants. I feel that the products that I relieved > the poster, sturdy flashcards, and dictionary, are such wonderful resources, and I feel that I made a great purchase. Also, the website shows live people signing words that you may not understand from the pictures. I feel baby sign language is wonderful for all children, and I love learning to sign as well. The only thing I can suggest, is to include a learning booklet that is a teaching guide to better understand how to use a baby sign language program. That is where I feel was the hardest, is not knowing exactly what to do. I can sign words, but have no idea how to converse or make a sentence.

My baby is able to communicate with us even though he does not speak yet. He is one year old but he can let us know when we is hungry and wants some milk, when he wants more cookies, or when he is done.

He should know more signs by now but we have been busy and haven’t work with new words as much as we would like to.

My husband and I are very pleased with baby sign, because it helped identify our daughter’s first word, which is the sound ‘da’ followed by the baby sign for dog (little tongue out and pant pant). If we didn’t have baby sign, we would have missed her efforts at communicating. She’s so proud of being able to identify and call out to her ‘brothers’ our two West Highland White Terriers. Thanks Baby Sign.

I have provided day care to my grandson since he was two months old. I started him on Baby Sign Language at four months. It enhanced his attention, focus, response to facial expression and improved his comprehension. He began signing those signs that carried the most importance and were within his physical ability. His parents participated in learning and using the signs, too. I have used the tools as they became age appropriate. This program is wonderful and I highly recommend it to all parents and grandparents.

I purchased the kit when my son was about 8-9 months old. Now he’s 16 months and he signs everyday. He loves communicating and learning new signs. I love that the kit gave me the tools I needed to help my son express his needs and wants even before he could talk. I also feel it helped him talk earlier. This was one of the most fun and educational things I’ve bought for my son and worth all the time and effort.

The kit is great! I got it for my Daughter when she was 3 months and she learned the sign for Milk right away! She is now 6 months and while she has not learned any new signs, even though everyday we teach her mommy and daddy and she knows what we mean by it, but wont do the signs for it. But I am not giving up and we review her flashcards and she does pay attention to them. Hopefully she will get the hang of the signs, right now since she loves crawling and now wants to stand up, I think her focus is on that for now. It would be great to see this translated into Spanish too!

Our family absolutely loves this kit! We refer to it almost daily. It travels with us and I am constantly recommending it to friends who ask me about how I taught Elliott. This kit provides all the essentials for not only beginners with BSL, but for those who are already using it. The flashcards are durable, the parental guide is so helpful, and the dictionary is a constant resource and easy to understand. We hand the poster to “refresh” Elliott’s memory on the easy signs he learned early on! Thanks for all the help and support you have provided us with the BSL Deluxe Kit.

The book has lots of useful tips and information to help with sign instruction. The dictionary has clear pictures that are easy to interpret. The cards are very thick and nice quality. The poster is colorful and a great reminder to practice signs if hung somewhere. I use this kit to help with early intervention speech therapy. Overall, this is a great product to help promote communication.

We ordered the delux baby sign language kit for our 9 month old after realizing he knew more words in sign language from his daycare class than we did! I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of flash cards. They looked great but withstood the torture of my son as he got older. Even as he’s learning to speak they are a great flash card to help teach him words. We’re looking forward to being able to use the kit with our youngest son very shortly.

This package of baby sign language materials exceeded my expectations. Our 2 y/o granddaughter has a speech delay and it has been recommended that we use all forms of communication with her. The flash cards are very sturdy and our 4 year old grandson loves them. He will have a full sign language vocabulary long before all the adults. All the materials are comprehensive and sturdy. I highly recommend this set.

We started signing with our son Oliver right away, when he was just a week old! We also did Elimination Communication with him, so we were sitting on the potty starting at 1 month old, and we were ALWAYS looking at these amazing BabySignLanguage.com flashcards. By a year of age, he could sign every single one of them AND he could say the word for almost all of them AND if we showed him the sign, or even the picture of the signing lady (on the back of the card), he could tell us what was on the front of the card (like baby charades). I’ve had friends try other brands of flashcards and nothing compares to these. JUST GET THE DELUXE STARTER KIT!! It’s a great deal and has everything you need for lifelong fun and learning with your child! *****5 STARS!!!*****

I just started using my Baby Sign Language kit with my little boy around 6-7 weeks ago. My son is now 7 months and 1 week old. As of yet he has not shown me any signs, but I am hopeful that in the coming weeks or months I will start to see his first signs. I am currently trying to teach him: mommy, daddy, milk, up, fan and dog and I have also just begun to use signs like: all done, more, and eat/food. If nothing else, he does seem to like watching my husband and I make the signs. The quality of the kit itself is nice and having access to babysignlanguage.com to confirm how to make the signs is nice since it can sometimes be a bit confusing how to do so simply from looking at pictures. I’m sure I will give this product rave reviews ONCE my baby starts signing back…but as of right now…it is still one-sided…and that is okay since he enjoys the entertainment offered from watching us sign.

Baby Sign Language has been instrumental in communicating with my children. It’s hard trying to figure out of baby wants or needs and sign language breaks up that barrier. The flash cards are easy to use! All 3 of my boys (6,3, and 1yrs old) love to use them. We started when my 3 yrs old (Logan) was about 2 yrs old and it was impossible to understand anything, mainly gibberish, that came out of his mouth. Being able to say what he was trying to with his mouth, with his hands stopped tantrums before they happened.

Even though our 1 year old sometimes has trouble signing, he loves to see us do it and figure out what he is trying to communicate. My whole family enjoys and actually uses this product. We love it and would recommend it to any new parent or even toddler parents!!

I used this set to teach my son to sign. We were very happy with the materials and the results. He learned it all very quickly, and we loved, loved, loved doing it.

One think to keep in mind, you don’t have to buy the set, there is enough information on the site to get you everything you need to know. This is one of the things I loved about this company and what made me buy the set.

The book has some extra tips and is more detailed, the dictionary is handy, and the flash cards are very nice. But, there isn’t any magic in the kit that is not available on the site. They help, but you still need to work with your child.
