Hit (a Ball)

We have several signs for hit (a ball). If you're teaching your baby about baseball, you make the gesture of holding the baseball bat with two closed-fist hands, getting ready to hit the ball from your side, then mimicking having hit the ball with both fists in front of your body. If you're teaching your baby about tennis, only use your dominant hand, making the gesture of hitting the tennis ball, starting on your dominant side and ending with your closed fist in front of your body.

SIGN USAGE

These hit-the-ball signs are self-evident when you use them in the context of watching a baseball or tennis game on TV, whether in a live match or a cartoon. Remember to show excitement and energy on your face and in your body posture as well when you show your baby the signs. It will get them excited early on for sports and physical activity.
