Fly is signed like airplane, but with added forward motion. Take your outstretched hand and tuck in your middle and ring fingers. Then move your hand diagonally across your body and face, like any winged transport or animal that flies across the sky.
Fly is a fun sign that we use in play. Use fly when you see and hear a jet whooshing past, or a bird soaring free if you are out in the park or countryside. You can also use it in conjunction with an airplane or helicopter toy, or a book that mentions such air transport. Baby boys especially like this sign because it is so animated, and the sign resembles the motion of the actual winged vehicle or bird.
Teach your toddler this sign in conjunction with airborne travel, winged animals, or flights of fancy.
