Fruit in Baby Sign Language
Figure: Fruit in Baby Sign Language

Usage: Wait until baby is a little older before teaching collective words like fruit. In the early days, I will instead use more specific words for the exact fruit I am referring to, like apple. Babies find it easier to conceptualize the specific. However, it is cognitively valuable to eventually start giving them examples of using a collective word, like fruit, that can refer to lots of different types of an object.
