Dirt in Baby Sign Language
Figure: Dirt in Baby Sign Language

Usage: Take baby outside and let her experience some dirt, and make the sign. After a few times of playing in the dirt, baby will learn to make the association to the sign. As baby grows older, you can extend this understanding and talk about plants growing in the dirt, and ants living in the dirt.

So, what’s the sign for bowl?

    ADMIN – Hi Carolyn,

Please refer to our dictionary where we have a video of the sign for bowl.

Would you use this sign to say a dish is dirty? Like dirty dishes as opposed to clean dishes in the dishwasher? My 16 month old wants to be helpful in the kitchen, so I’m trying to teach her when she can take the dishes out and when she shouldn’t.

    ADMIN – Hi Tamara,

We combine the sign for dirty with the sign for bowl.
